Huge Sunday walk, prize donations, events!!

Well after a trip out to Healesville a couple of weeks ago and a Monday afternoon filled with an awful lot of emailing and calling, a couple more businesses came to my assistance with donations.  Buckley's Beer have kindly donated a selection of their boutique beers, Healesville Hotel have promised me a dinner voucher, and Rochford Winery in Coldstream have sent a gift voucher for a two course lunch for two at their winery.  Fab!

Sunday just gone Anton and I decided to go an explore of the neighbourhood.  We have been living in Rezza just over 5 months and had been meaning all that time to explore the expansive looking park in Bundoora to the North East.  After about 40 mins walking we were baffled to see some kangaroos through a netted fence!  Walking all the way around the other side of the fence, we finally worked out the kangaroos were part of a wildlife park inside the enormous 'Bundoora Park'  The park is huge and includes playgrounds, a golf course, and an 'urban farm' amongst other things.  Here's a link to some info about the park:  http://www.bundoorapark.com.au/  After picking up a map at the info centre we discovered we were only a couple of hundred metres away from the highest point in metropolitan Melbourne  - 'Mount Cooper'  Well it's a whole 137m above sea level so hardly a mountain!  haha

Anyhoo so we climbed up the top and were rewarded with a semi-good view of Melbourne with the city away to the West.  Up the top is a super posh suburb with enormous houses, so we spent a while walking around 'Pleasantville' which was quite surreal.  Stumbled across this homestead which houses an art gallery and a cafe so had a wander around in there:  http://bundoorahomestead.com/house

Then off back to Rezza, around a 3 hour round trip with only a stop for a sandwich.

I run the Real Hot Bitches 80s Dance Troupe so have decided to run one 'open practise' a month, and charge $10 for anyone to come along and learn a dance.  The classes should be advertised in threethousand this week all going well: http://thethousands.com.au/melbourne/  The flier I have created for it is here:

I am also organising an 80s Dance Party at The Evelyn Hotel on Sat April 28th, featuring the Real Hot Bitches, those babelicious Danceteria DJs and a local Congalese band called Kinshasa Express which plays upbeat dance music.  Tickets will be available soon on Moshtix $12 presale + booking fee or $15 on the door.  Watch this space for more ticket deets!  The flier I have created for that one is here:

We hope to have all our raffle prizes sorted by the end of Feb so as I can sell them at both the dance classes and the dance party.

Anton also had his beer brewing kit that we purchased off ebay delivered today, so the brewing of the 'mountain brew' can commence.  Things are really coming along (and so they should be with only 4 months left to raise $10K each!)

That's all for now!
